Detroit-Driven.
Community-Focused.
At Giving Back CDC, our mission is to empower individuals and uplift communities across Detroit by providing access to essential resources, education, and support. We are committed to breaking down barriers, fostering opportunity, and creating lasting change through youth development, workforce training, and wraparound services.
Investing in People…
We believe that people are the heart of the community. That’s why we invest in individuals—not just with resources, but with time, care, and support. Whether it’s youth discovering their potential, a job seeker gaining new skills, or a family rebuilding after hardship, we walk alongside them every step of the way.

We Give Back!
Giving back is at the heart of everything we do. Through our community outreach and food pantry, Forgotten Harvest, our efforts have delivered essential food resources to more than 2,300 individuals and families across Wayne and Oakland counties in 2024—helping to fight hunger and bring relief where it’s needed most.
Our Teen Etiquette Class is another example of how we invest in the future. Designed to build confidence and practical life skills, the program guided youth through topics like self-esteem, social etiquette, emotional management, and dressing for success. With the support of civic volunteers and our dedicated board members, we created a safe and empowering space for young people to learn, grow, and thrive.
Together, these initiatives reflect our deep commitment to uplifting communities, addressing urgent needs, and fostering long-term success for those we serve.

“At Giving Back, we believe that true change begins when we invest in people—when we listen, uplift, and walk alongside them. Detroit is full of strength and potential, and our mission is to unlock that by creating access, building trust, and empowering every individual to thrive.”
— Pamara Blount, Executive Director

Programs & Services
Youth & Community Development
We believe in empowering the next generation through mentorship, leadership training, and community engagement. Our youth programs provide a safe and supportive environment where young people can develop essential life skills, build confidence, and become active contributors to their communities.
Job Training & Career Placement
Economic empowerment starts with opportunity. We offer job training, career development workshops, and employment placement services to help participants gain the skills they need to secure meaningful employment. Whether it’s resume building, interview coaching, or connecting with employers, we are here to support career success.
Victim & Wraparound Services
For those facing crisis situations, we provide compassionate support through victim advocacy, emergency assistance, and wraparound services. Our holistic approach ensures participants receive the resources they need—from counseling and legal assistance to food security—so they can rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
Annual Giveback
Events…
Giving Back CDC hosts a variety of impactful annual events that serve and strengthen the Detroit community. From Back-to-School Backpack Giveaways that prepare students for academic success, to partnerships like the Forgotten Harvest Food Pantry that address food insecurity, our outreach is both wide-reaching and deeply personal. Through our Point of Hope Community Outreach and Health and Wellness Fairs, we connect residents with vital resources, services, and support. During the holidays, our Thanksgiving and Christmas Giveaways bring joy and relief to families in need, while our Financial Literacy Symposiums equip individuals with the knowledge to build stable, empowered futures.
